Amal Clooney, formerly Amal Alamuddin before marriage, is an accomplished and high-profile international law and human rights lawyer who has represented clients like Julian Assange in his fight against extradition. Amal, who was born in Beirut, Lebanon, was raised in England, recently becoming a special envoy on media freedom by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office. While studying at New York University Law school, Amal interned for Sonia Sotomayor, then a federal judge, now a Supreme Court Justice. Because of her unparalleled work with human rights cases, Amal frequently speaks at the United Nations.
Amal married actor George Clooney in September 2014, at the City Hall in Venice, Italy. In February 2017, George’s friend, actor Matt Damon, spilled the beans and told the world that George and Amal were expecting twins. She gave birth to Ella and Alexander Clooney in June 2017.
