After someone posted a mean tweet about choosing Modern Family‘s Ariel Winter over her because “curves are sexy sticks aren’t,” Ariana couldn’t resist making an epic comeback. She started out her response with a sigh, declaring that it isn’t okay for anyone to make a statement about someone like that. But that was only just the beginning — what she said after that was an amazing way to stick up for everyone who has been put down! “We live in a day and age where people make it IMPOSSIBLE for women, men, anyone to embrace themselves exactly how they are. Diversity is sexy! Loving yourself is sexy! You know what is NOT sexy? Misogyny, objectifying, labeling, comparing and body shaming!!!” She her full response below!
You tell ’em, Ari! She didn’t stop there either. Ariana continued by telling her fans to celebrate yourself and celebrate others. To finish her empowering statement, Ari added, “The things that make us different from one another make us BEAUTIFUL.” She even captioned the whole thing with a reminder that “you’re beautiful” and “it’s a beautiful day to be yourself !!” We could not agree more!
If you need more proof that Ariana is the ultimate advocate for self empowerment, just take a listen to her latest single, “Focus”! The song — which Ari just released along with the video on Oct. 30 — just screams confidence with lyrics like, “Let’s find a light inside our universe now/Where ain’t nobody keep on holding us down/Just come and get it, let them say what they say/Cause I’m about to put them all away.” We have to say, she certainly lived up to her lyrics with her body shamer shut down!
