California Wildfires Of 2019
Wildfires continue to be a very real, scary danger to our environment. In many places where the climate is typically warm and dry, such as Australia and California, the mass spread of forest fires serves as a very threatening environmental issue. For example, the wildfire epidemic in Australia in 2019-2020 destroyed over 17 million acres of land, and took out over 2,000 homes. In the U.S, the beautiful wastelands of California also have been a target for wildfires over the years.
By the end of 2019 in California, over 7,860 fires were recorded by the California Fire and the US Forest Service, which totaled an estimated of 259,823 acres of burned land. Throughout these fires, we can’t forget to endlessly thank the brave fire fighters on the front end, risking their lives daily to help halt the fires spreading. In this photo, Los Angeles County Firefighter Collin Bashara takes a rest with his fire truck in LA, in October of 2019.
