Jermaine Dupri Mauldin was born on September 23, 1972. The singer’s musical career began before he was ten years old, when his music manager father coordinated a Diana Ross concert. At the show, Dupri managed to get on-stage and dance along with Ross! The singer was soon working as a dancer for the hip hop group Whodini at just 12-years-old. The singer went on to producer a number of hip-hop acts of his own, and was the driving force behind Silk Tymes Leather, Kriss Kross, and more. Jermaine established his own record label called So So Def in 1993 and Shortly after, signed R&B group Xscape to the label. The singer also had a successful solo career of his own. He has also written songs for Usher and served as a mentor to famed singer Monica.In 1998, Jermaine Dupri was involved in the release of Destiny’s Child’s eponymous debut album. He also notably worked with Mariah Carey on her The Emancipation Of Mimi with the smash hit “We Belong Together”.
