Cam Newton sure is good at keeping a secret! The 27-year-old Carolina Panthers quarterback is about to become a dad for the second time in under one year. His girlfriend Kia Proctor is already nine months pregnant and it was his own dad who broke the family’s big baby news Dec. 13! “We are excited,” proud grandpa Cecil Newton told NBC Charlotte reporter Michelle Boudin, who then tweeted about the pregnancy. While reports surfaced in Sept, that baby number two was on the way, no one in the family confirmed the news.

Kia is reportedly due any day now, which will make this their second Dec. in a row where the couple is welcoming a child. Their son Chosen entered the world on Dec. 24, 2015 and the new baby will also be a holiday infant. Yep, that’s two babies in one year so Cam and Kia will have their hands full!
There’s no word yet on if the couple are expecting another boy or a little girl, but the name will surely be unique. Back when Chosen was born, Cam explained the unusual moniker to reporters. “I wanted something that would be masculine, but yet unique,” he said. “I’m not a big fan of juniors and every person that I’ve had this conversation when I say ‘I don’t want to have the pressure of him being a junior’, they reply, ‘what the hell do you think Chosen’s going to bring?'” He added, “It’s something that I think he grows up and appreciates rather than…have a couple of names in his class of the same name as him when they’re doing morning roll call and they say his name.”

Cam’s proud mama Jackie revealed, “I have no idea what this one is going to be called, but we will be happy.” At this point as they await the new arrival, the whole family is looking forward to celebrating Chosen’s first birthday on Christmas Eve. “We are all so excited. Cam is happy, his first born, so we are happy,” Jackie said. “It’s going to be a giddy time of the year for us.” Wow, can you imagine having not one but TWO babies born around Christmastime? Talk about making that a really special holiday.
