You've both just given interviews in Cannes, France, talking about how happy you are, and gushing about what's making your marriage so successful.

Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Marriage Lasting: Don’t Stop Doing Everything Right

Kim, you just told the Daily Mail that you feel like you’ll be in the honeymoon period forever, and revealed that you and Kanye talk 24/7. “We always say we really like to treat each other like it’s our birthday,” you said. “I try to treat him like it’s his birthday every single day. I think we’ll always be like that.” You also added, “We do travel, and work really hard, when we’re together — and even when we’re apart, we’re always on the phone 24/7 — just trying to make that time as memorable as possible.”

And Kanye, while you were in Cannes, speaking on a panel called “Translation: Technology, Culture ad Consumer Adoption: Learning To Read The Cultural Landscape,” you declared that Kim is the only woman you want to be with. “She’s the number one woman in the world,” you announced. “I can’t be with any girl but Kim because that’s the girl that I look at her pictures the most, and I get turned on the most.”

Both of you just revealed, with these touching comments, why your romance is working and why it could last forever. And that’s a pretty big deal in the world of Hollywood, where relationships and marriages can be as fleeting as fame.

Kim, it’s fantastic that you and Kanye are talking 24/7 because the #1 reason that marriages fail is because partners stop communicating.

There’s no such thing as talking or sharing too much in a marriage. The more a couple shares — their thoughts, their feelings, their concerns, their hopes and interests — the happier and stronger their marriage will be.

Plus, sharing your interests and your life’s passions as you two do strengthens a relationship. You two both love fashion, music, art and pop culture. The fact that you support each other’s careers and that you even work together at times, bodes tremendously well for your love lasting longterm.

And then of course, you both share family values. You’ve both had close relationships with your parents, and Kim, of course, you still do. Kanye may have lost his mother, Donda West, but he continues to miss her and honor her memory, and to value the importance of family.

Now, Kanye, when you spoke out about how Kim is the only woman you ever look at, you were espousing a value that is so important for a forever relationship — a commitment to monogamy. You may not have realized this at the time, but in Cannes — and in front of the world — you were going public with your commitment to being solely with Kim for always. A statement like that is just as important as your actual marriage vows.

I also have to say, Kanye, that it’s wonderful to see you wearing your wedding ring every day — another very public sign of your total devotion to your marriage and family, including baby North West.

So, Kim and Kanye, you are starting off on exactly the right forever foot. You’re in love, but you’re not living in a fantasy world. You’re very much aware, in a real-life, everyday way, of what it takes to make a marriage work. And you’re happily doing those things.

Now, just don’t stop your constant communication and your romantic monogamy. Stick to those things and you’ll be celebrating your 50th wedding anniversary one day.
