The 2019 honorees for the 2019 Kennedy Center Honors. This year’s class includes Philip Bailey, Verdine White, and Ralph Johnson of R&B collective Earth, Wind & Fire, actress Sally Field, singer Linda Ronstadt, Abby, Big Bird, Elmo, and creators Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett of the Children’s Television Program ‘Sesame Street’ and conductor and musical visionary Michael Tilson Thomas. They were recognized for their achievements in the performing arts during ‘The 42nd Annual Kennedy Center Honors’ which was broadcast on CBS on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019. Earth, Wind and Fire were serenaded by the likes of The Jonas Brothers and John Legend when it came to some of their most classic hits. Carrie Underwood was on hand to perform a medley of Linda’s most powerhouse tunes. Tom Hanks celebrated Sally’s incredible acting career in a star-studded evening. The event took place on Dec. 8 but aired a week later on CBS. It was worth the wait to see so many incredible performances.
