Dhani Harrison has definitely carved a name for himself in the music industry, which comes as no surprise to fans as he is the son of the Beatles’ lead guitarist George Harrison. Born on August 1,1978 in Berkshire, England to George and Olivia Trinidad Arias, Dhani grew up on his father’s estate called Friar Park. As George embraced Indian culture and incorporated Indian instruments into his music, it’s also no surprise Dhani was named after “dha” and “ni”, two notes from the Indian music scale.
While Dhani tried other ventures in life — such as design and Olympic rowing — to separate himself from his father’s legacy, he eventually discovered that music was truly in his blood. Ironically, his first professional gig was finishing Brainwashed, the album George was working on before he died in November 2001.
After forming his own band, thenewno2, in 2002, Dhani would make appearances at Coachella and Lollapalooza. He then segued into a career as a composer, scoring the music for a variety of film and TV projects. By 2017, he was back to his singer-songwriter roots, releasing his debut solo album IN///PARALLEL.
