Dr. Jill Biden, born Jill Jacobs, is an American educator and the wife of former Vice President Joe Biden. Jill and Joe met in March 1975 after being set up on a blind date by his brother, Frank. Joe’s wife and infant daughter had died in a car crash in 1973, and she soon became a mother figure to his surviving sons, Beau and Hunter Biden. Jill graduated from the University of Delaware in 1975, and got her Masters in Education in 1981. After having daughter Ashley, she went back to work as a teacher. She completed her doctorate in Education in 2007; the following year, she became Second Lady of the United States when Joe was elected vice president to Barack Obama. Throughout her time in the White House, and after, she continued to teach at a local community college.
