Get ready, FIFA Women’s World Cup. Here comes the United States Women’s National Team. The USWNT are back in action during the 2019 soccer extravaganza, as Team USA looks to win back-to-back World Cups for the first time. The team dominated in 2015, dispatching Japan in the final with a crushing 5-2 victory. Yet, in 2016, the team was bounced from the 2016 Olympics before reaching the semifinals, the first time for the team at a major event. Since then, the roster has undergone a retooling. With such stars like Abby Wambach and Hope Solo retiring from international play, coach Jill Ellis has developed a squad that, while isn’t invisible, is still pretty intimidating. The USWNT team went on a 28-game winning streak from 2017 to the start of 2019, before losing to France’s national team. Will France’s home country advantage ruin the US’s dreams, or will this squad prove why they’re the favorites to win?
