‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ was released in 2016. The cast included Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, and Forest Whitaker. The film is part of the ‘Star Wars’ universe and takes place about two decades after the events in ‘Revenge of the Sith’ and just before the events in ‘A New Hope.’ The movie follows a group of unlikely heroes who band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star. One of those heroes is Jyn Erso, a young woman who is detained for her crimes against the Empire until she is freed by the Rebel Alliance. She teams up with Cassian Andor, a Rebel captain, to steal the plans to the Death Star. The film grossed over $1 billion worldwide during its run and earned Oscar nominations for Best Sound Mixing and Best Visual Effects.
Felicity Jones As Jyn Erso
Felicity Jones stars as Jyn Erso in the film. She is the daughter of Lyra and Galen Erso. Galen is a scientist who was forced to help build the Death Star.
Diego Luna As Cassian Andor
Diego Luna stars as Cassian Andor, a Rebel captain and Alliance Intelligence officer. He dies alongside Jyn at the end of the film.
Forest Whitaker As Saw Gerrera
Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker stars as Saw Gerrera. Saw is a veteran of the Clone Wars and rebellion against the Empire.
Ben Daniels As General Antoc Merrick

Stormtroopers In ‘Rogue One’
Stormtroopers are still very present in ‘Rogue One.’ Stormtroopers are extremely loyal to the Empire.
Imperial Death Troopers
Imperial Death Troopers appear in ‘Rogue One.’ They are elite soldiers of Imperial Intelligence and serve as bodyguards and enforcers for Director Krennic.
Jyn Erso
Fans immediately noticed that Jyn Erso had a lot of similarities to Rey. Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, denied Jyn Erso was Rey’s mother in 2016.
Galen Erso
Galen Erso manages to engineer a weakness in the Death Star. He intentionally adds the exhaust port flaw in hopes the Alliance can eventually destroy the Death Star.
Saw Gerrera
Saw Gerrera actually helped raise Jyn Erso after her father and mother were taken away. Saw eventually dies in the aftermath of the blast by the Death Star on Jedha.
Gareth Edwards & Felicity Jones
‘Rogue One’ director Gareth Edwards films a scene featuring Felicity Jones. He previously directed the 2014 film ‘Godzilla.’
