Surprise! Taylor Swift just announced that she has a new album, 'Folklore', dropping at midnight on July 24, the same night that Kanye West is releasing his album.
Swifties, rejoice! Taylor Swift, 30, just announced a surprise new album — Folklore is on the way! Taylor broke the news to her fans in an exciting Instagram post, writing, “folklore will have 16 songs on the standard edition, but the physical deluxe editions will include a bonus track called “the lakes.” Because this is my 8th studio album, I made 8 deluxe CD editions and 8 deluxe vinyl editions that are available for one week. Each deluxe edition has unique covers, photos, and artwork. Available exclusively at taylorswift.com”. The album is available for purchase at midnight ET on July 24.

How exciting is that? Taylor also included an image of the album artwork, which shows a black and white image of her back to the camera, as she stands in a beautiful field. It includes the names of the sixteen tracks she mentions in the post. If it wasn’t clear, we’re freaking out over here. Folklore comes less than a year after Taylor released her smash hit Lover, which featured incredible tracks like “Me!” and “You Need To Calm Down.”
As if this weren’t enough, Taylor also released a teaser for the music video for “Cardigan,” the first single off Folklore. The Instagram post, which you can see HERE, shows Taylor bathed in candlelight, sitting behind what appears to be a piano. She revealed something amazing about the stunning music video — it was partly DIY!
“The music video for ‘cardigan’ will premiere tonight, which I wrote/directed,” Taylor said on Instagram. A million thank you’s to my brilliant, bad ass video team… The entire shoot was overseen by a medical inspector, everyone wore masks, stayed away from each other, and I even did my own hair, makeup, and styling.” How cool is that?
Interestingly, Folklore and “Cardigan” are coming the same night that her old enemy, Kanye West, is due to release his long-awaited album, DONDA: WITH CHILD. This is his 10th album, following two 2019 releases, Jesus Is King and Yandhi.
