Liz Lemon forever! Tina Fey has been cracking up audiences ever since her breakout on ‘Satuday Night Live.’ After graduating from the University of Virginia, Tina moved to Chicago to hone her comedic chops as part of The Second City. During this time, she submitted scrips to ‘SNL’s then head-writer Adam McKay, a Second City graduate.
She was hired on as a writer in 1997. Her first on-screen appearance came in 1998 as an extra. In 1999, after Adam McKay stepped down, she became ‘SNL’s first female head writer. Her on-screen role increased and she, along with Jimmy Fallon, became a co-anchor of ‘Weekend Update.’ She departed from ‘SNL’ in 2006 to oversee ’30 Rock,’ a new show for NBC. The show would become a critical success, earning Emmy nods and awards until its end in 2013.
From there, Tina would continue her writing and producing career with Netflix’s ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.’ She also made her film debut in 2004’s ‘Mean Girls,’ a movie she co-wrote. The film became a cult classic and was adapted to Broadway in 2018.
