Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made global headlines as Ukraine’s fearless leader amid horrible attacks from Russia. While he’s garnered international support since the start of the war, Zelenskyy has had one of the most surprising careers in politics. Long before getting into politics, he was a comedian, who rose to popularity with the help of his show ‘Servant of the People.’ He also starred in many feature films and was a popular celebrity in his home country.
In 2019, Zelenskyy made his run for President of Ukraine, and he won. His presidency became international news when then-United States President Donald Trump pressured him to investigate Joe Biden, who would later run against him and win in the 2020 presidential election. Trump threatened to withhold aid from Ukraine unless Zelenskyy looked into Biden and his son Hunter’s business dealings.
Zelenskyy became even more well-known when Russia began attacking Ukraine in February 2022, and he became the face of the country, asking for international support.

First Lady Olena Zelenska Addresses Congress
Volodymyr Zelenskyy married his wife Olena in 2003. Since the war in Ukraine, Olena has also been a vocal advocate for international powers to send support to their home country.
